Dale de Ruig (owner/founder) was born and raised in South Africa where he could not help but fall in love with the African bush. After five years of guiding and managing, he decided a move away from one lodge was necessary to explore the rest of Africa and find out what She has to offer.

Spending time in Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and his first love, South Africa, Dale decided in 2010 the time was right to share his intimate knowledge and love of the bush.

The biggest honour in my life to date is spending time with Mandela in the bush.

To be in the company of your hero in one of the most beautiful places in the world was a moment I couldn’t have dreamed up. Every guide loves looking after high-profile guests but at the heart of it all is the desire to share intimate experiences and knowledge of the bush with loved ones.

Whether it is around the camp fire re-telling the stories from the days drive or sitting on a hill as the sun sets, watching a herd of elephants playing in the river.

The heart of the bush is what I want my guests to connect with. When that happens, the holiday becomes an experience, and that experience is very seldom forgotten.”
